Come join Air Group One!

CAF Air Group One and Tuskegee Airmen members
take a moment to reflect, in front of the B-17 "Sentimental Journey" during one of its previous stops at Gillespie Field.

Air Group One is looking for men and women of all ages who would like to join us in our mission to preserve military aviation history and to honor those who served. We also have a cadet program for those who are under 18 years of age. For more information, stop by our hangar on any Saturday morning and meet the gang!

AIR GROUP ONE - SAN DIEGO WING OF THE CAF

Air Group One is the San Diego Wing of the CAF, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the preservation of World War II aircraft and the history of World War II aviation.

Air Group One formed as the "San Diego Squadron" of the CAF in 1981. Two years later it was reformed as a CAF Wing and renamed "Air Group One." It is based at its hangar located on North Marshall, Hangar #6on Gillespie Field in El Cajon, CA.

Air Group One's hangar and WWII museum currently displays an SNJ "Sassy," and our L-5 Sentinel "Betsy" is in restoration at our hangar.

Air Group One is an all volunteer organization. Its members work on a number of local projects, museum displays, maintain and restore World War II airplanes, travel to Southern California airshows with the aircraft and PX trailer and hold special events.

Air Group One presents pancake breakfasts, symposiums and other special events including the annual World War II airshow called "Wings Over Gillespie".

A fundraising pancake breakfast is held in the Air Group One hangar on the fourth Saturday of the month at 8:30am, followed by a general meeting (open to all).

With his D'Marie Stearman as backdrop, Bob Simon, Wing Leader of Air Group One (AG-1) of the Commemorative Air Force participated in AG-1's "A-STEM" program by discussing potential careers in aviation to high school age students at the AG-1 hanger at Gillespie Field.
