WE MOTIVATE STUDENTS: Air Group One A-STEM

NATIONAL GOAL:  To positively influence the imaginations, and career ambitions of America’s young people, A-STEM focuses on engaging and retaining students to encourage their pursuit of educational disciplines critical to America’s future engineering, scientific, and technical missions.

A-STEM is a youth education and motivation program with scheduled sequential topics. Subjects include Aerodynamics, Aerospace Materials, and Space Operations. Students groups are divided into escorted smaller groups that rotate through several learning stations with experienced aerospace instructors and technicians discussing aerodynamics, propulsion, aerospace materials, space operations, communications, and aerospace careers. Students are in direct contact with real aircraft and equipment, with the assistance of qualified pilots/instructors and engineers from various industries, such as GKN Aerospace in El Cajon, California.

The program is organized and executed by Air Group One, and is a synergistic effort by many in the aerospace community of San Diego County. Volunteers from many different specialties have organized for the sake of our nation’s youth, particularly in San Diego and East San Diego County.

Please note: This 9AM-3PM event takes place at Gillespie Field, El Cajon for up to 40 attendees (teachers, parents & chaperons NOT included). To sign up, please contact  John Telles (760)458-4230 or burnernow@gmail.com

Greetings Fellow 'Hookers and Friends of Naval Aviation:

Our October Happy Hour will be on Thursday, 23 October, from 5-7 PM at "The Gillespie Field

take advantage of the lovely weather and evening sunsets...hope it works for

you.  Should be gorgeous.  As usual, PLEASE bring any and all friends,

spouses, "significant others", neighbors, co-workers, homeless fighter

pilots, banjo, harmonica or accordion players, railroad engineers, or anyone

else with even a remote fondness or interest in Naval aviation.  This is one

you won't want to miss!

As for all "Museum Events", we'll be collecting $20/per person for drinks,

heavy "pu-pu's" (e.g., plenty of good food...) and the opportunity to

socialize in a magnificent setting including the hangar museum, and the

"outdoor displays" of the F-14, F-8, F-102, F-16, A-6, A-7, MiG-21, MiG-17,

F-86, AV-8B...and MUCH MORE!  Hope to see you there!  Bring your cameras!

side of Gillespie Field  at 335 Kenney Street, in El Cajon.  Look for the

big silver "ATLAS Booster Rocket" to guide you.   Directions to the Museum's
