Why does Air Group One need a new hangar?
The Air Group One team is working on a new hangar project. We know that the time and opportunity is right for a move, to ensure a lasting position for Air Group One and to keep the public connected with San Diego's aviation heritage. At the moment, AG1 has three aircraft and a fourth on the way. We can barely fit two in our current hangar, and the current hangar is expensive and doesn't meet our mission objectives very well.
Please EMAIL US if you have any expertise or experience that could be helpful in this endeavor. We have started fundraising for the hangar deposit, taking pledges and promises for support and will be working toward a completed hangar by 2017. Think of this 'Flying Museum' as a partnership with Air Group One and the community. The hangar will be designed to be a Flying Museum and to support the community with a public viewing area, meeting rooms for organizations such as Boy and Girl Scouts, Civil Air Patrol and Sea Cadets as well as County Airport meetings and community events. A new hangar would potentially allow AirShow San Diego to be free of charge for veterans and their families.
